Company History
Bridgeway Freighting was started in 1984 as a family run third party logistics provider. Over three generations of the Davies family have been involved with the company during its 26 years of operation. To this day it remains a family business and the current MD, Ian Davies, took over from his father, and co-founder, the late John Davies in 2003.
Over the past 26 years, Bridgeway has established itself within the market as a company of the highest quality with outstanding levels of service and reliability to all of its customers. Just take a look at the testimonials for proof.
In 1990 it expanded with the construction of a 7,500 sq. ft. warehouse at its base in Cardiff. This enabled them to offer an even greater level of service to their customers. Bridgeway now have access to over 5,000,000 square feet of warehouse space throughout the UK and Europe.
Links with a wide range of vetted warehouse operators have increased the ability to provide a full range of quality logistics services such as labelling, picking, packing, order fulfilment and reverse logistics.
In 2005 Bridgeway opened a new office in Dursley, Gloucestershire. This is where the head office function is now based, although the client base continues to expand throughout the UK and Europe.
More recently Bridgeway has extended its services to include regular pallet distribution throughout the UK and Europe through direct links with major pallet networks.
The company continues to expand and win new and prestigious business due to its focus on the needs of its customers and their ability to react quickly and effectively to their customers’ demands.

Reasons for change
Frustrated that the aims of the organisation are restricted by the agility of the organisation.
Angry that the organisation is weighed down by shortages of cash yet the assets appear to be vast.
Upset that the focus of the organisation is not where the customer is but on the detail of how to provide what you have.
Uncertain of where the bottle necks are which, if they could be eliminated, would release the organisation to fulfil its potential.
Angry that change is difficult and costly to make making the organisation unwieldy and with the feeling of being a juggernaut.
Frustrated that the suggestion of change is met with fear of the consequences.
Worried that assets aren’t being utilised enough and are becoming a lead weight.
Concerned about the lack of visibility within the organisation which reduces the ability to change to the ever changing needs and demands of your customers.
Frustrated that big boys toys are just that but unclear how to prove it or change it.
